For any and all musicians interested in improvisation, this workshop is an opportunity to learn by doing in a non-hierarchical format.

All instruments, musical interests, and experience levels are very welcome. This workshop is less about playing a certain style of music and more about the philosophy and musical practice of improvisation. This is about becoming a better musician through participatory, collective learning that deepens your relationship to your instrument and to others.

Collective improvisation, both fee and structured, is the primary method of instruction. Additionally, there will be guided exercises, readings, discussions, and guest speakers.

If you are interested in participating, or if you just want more information, please sign up for the mailing list.

Details: On 19 and 20 July, the first pilot workshops were held at the Jazz Academy in the Lincoln Theater with great fanfare and jubilation. Currently, we are working to plan the first full-run of the workshop, so stay tuned for details.
